Planning a golf trip to Moldova
What to expect, where to play, how to get there from Chișinău, and how to pair a round with some of Moldova's best-known wineries.
Moldova isn’t a golf destination in the way Portugal or Turkey are, and it’s better to know that before you come. There’s no 18-hole course here. What there is makes a very good half-day: a modern nine-hole course with a covered range, a small three-hole course, and some of Europe’s most interesting wineries a short drive away.
Where to play
There are two places to play, both within about half an hour of central Chișinău. Full details and prices are on our courses page.
- Dream Valley Golf & Country Club, Hrușova. This is the most complete facility in the country: a nine-hole course of mainly par 3s, a covered driving range, a short-game area with a practice bunker, a pro shop, and a restaurant and bar. If you only visit one, make it this one.
- Merops Park Golf Club, Chetrosu. A small three-hole course where the first hole is shared with the driving range. Facilities are very basic, so it suits a relaxed hour or two rather than a full day out.
Getting there
Both courses are outside the city, so you’ll need a car or a taxi.
- Dream Valley is about 20 km from the centre of Chișinău by road, roughly 25 minutes in normal traffic.
- Merops is about 23 km away, roughly 30 minutes, towards Anenii Noi.
Taxi apps are the easiest option. Bolt started ride-hailing in Chișinău in September 2025, working with licensed taxi firms, and Yandex Go also operates. Avoid flagging down unofficial taxis in the street; book through an app or ask your hotel to order one.
If you’re flying in, Chișinău International Airport is about 13 km south-east of the city centre. Its airport code is now RMO. It changed from KIV in January 2024, so search for RMO when booking.
When to go
The warm season runs from late May to mid-September, with average highs above 23°C and July the hottest month at around 28°C. Winters are cold, and January is the coldest month. For golf, the months either side of high summer are usually the most comfortable.
Pair your round with a winery
Wine is Moldova’s best-known export, and several of the most famous cellars are close to the courses.
- Cricova, about 12 km from Dream Valley, has a vast network of underground cellars and runs tours, tastings and a restaurant. It pairs easily with a morning round at Dream Valley.
- Asconi, in Puhoi, is about 13 km from Merops and offers tours, tastings and a restaurant.
- Castel Mimi, in Bulboaca, is in the same district as Merops. It’s a restored château winery with tours, a hotel and a spa.
- Mileștii Mici, south of Chișinău, holds a Guinness World Record for the largest wine collection. Tours must be booked online in advance.
Check opening times and book tastings before you go, especially at weekends.
What to bring
You don’t need to bring clubs. Dream Valley hires them out, from a single iron to a full bag, and lists its prices online; see the courses page. Its pro shop sells clubs, gloves and balls if you need anything on the day. Bring comfortable clothes, water and sun protection in summer, and book your tee time or range bay ahead.
In short
Come for a relaxed game, not a championship course. Combine golf with the wineries and the city, and Moldova makes a memorable, unusual golf break. Interested in what could come next? Read about the simulator project.
